By February 19, 2021 No Comments

Hello,

This is the tenth installment of Sound Bites. After a long hiatus and difficulty staying motivated I’m getting back to sending this newsletter. Quick note…I’m gonna be in Nashville all of March starting the 2nd. I would love to connect with any of you that would like to make some music together. Gigs, songwriting, consultation, music directing – I’m open to it.

Sound Bites-quality information in bite-size piecesis for anyone in or associated with the music industry who is in the pursuit of “living in the pocket” in all areas of their lives, on stage and off stage. I have received great praise throughout my life for my ability to find the most accurate, succinct and quality information about products, experiences, fun facts, you name it. With my affinity for research and the ability to compile the best of the best out there, I feel compelled to share my wealth of knowledge. Because I value your time, this newsletter intends to share my findings with you on a routine basis in digestible and curated morsels. Check out this week’s findings below!

What I’m Listing To:

Old Dominion @olddominionmusic – New York At Night

I’m a huge fan of this band. Old Dominion is comprised mostly of songwriters and masters of their craft. The creative use of wordplay and imagery in “New York at Night” is exceptional. It’s also supported by a great track.

Coldplay to Pause Touring Until Concerts are ‘Environmentally Beneficial’

Habits can be a hard thing to shift. The music industry as a whole has a very strong habit and cycle of create music, make a record, tour to support that record, and then repeat. When Coldplay’s newest record came out, “Everyday Life” they did a streamed live concert from a rooftop in Jordan. Typically, an event like this would be to support not just the record but a tour as well. I felt really surprised and excited to read about their pursuits to carry the torch of change through shifting how they choose to tour.

What does an automatic shuffling bridge table and the Hammond organ have in common? Find out in this fantastic video that I came across on YouTube that explains the history of the Hammond organ and the company that built them. I found it especially interesting that Laurens Hammond, inventor of the Hammond organ created such an expressive musical instrument but didn’t know anything about music. Check it out.

I lost count of the amount of times I have watched this show. The balance between record parts and embellishment is so tasteful. You can really feel the energy of how everything came together perfectly for this performance.

Life can feel really challenging at times, we feel like the muse just left and we don’t understand why life is a mess and caving in on us. Sadly, there is a lot of misinformation out there that quietly steers our minds further into the darkness and leaves us feeling hopeless and aimlessly searching for answers. The universe and life isn’t intending to be cruel. It’s actually there telling us exactly what we need. We’ve just forgotten how to listen and transform the information into constructive and empowering actionable steps. Click here to book a session if you are feeling stuck or even just curious how much better life can get. I’d love to connect with you.
